Gateshead International Stadium Indoor Track
This indoor straight is contained within a training hall for sprints and jumps at the Gateshead International Stadium. It is not dedicated as the sports hall is heavily used for 5-a-side and basketball etc. It is in two rooms and a large steel shutter door has to be raised to get the full distance. The distance is wall-wall and it can only seriously be used for 50m sprints. The jumps pit has had problems since day one and it is a major logistics exercise to raise the lid. A better indoor track which will be the indoor athletics centre for the North East region of the English Institute of Sport is being built to the east of the stadium.
