The track was completed in May 2000 and has a Polytan M synthetic surface. The main contractor was H.E. Construction Services Ltd.. It forms part of Eastbourne Sports Park which also comprises a floodlit all-weather football/hockey pitch and numerous grass pitches. It is on the site of Eastbourne College of Arts & Technology and Park College Eastbourne. An uncovered stand and a pavilion was added in 2001.
