Seth Somers Track
The original track at the Manor Abbey Sports Ground was grass and opened in 1949 along with the cycle velodrome which still surrounds it. County champs were held on it in the 1960s. It was upgraded to synthetic at a cost of ?165K with the help of a Lottery Sports Award and the Seth Somers trust and the Seth Somers Track, as it is now properly called, was officially opened on 12th April 1997 by the Mayor of Dudley, Councillor W.P. Cody, and international athlete Tony Milovsorov. The tracks are also commonly referred to as Manor Abbey Stadium within Manor Abbey Sports Ground. The running track is shorter than standard as the cycle velodrome is 400m in length.
