The track opened in 1998 and is situated in Cleland at the sports grounds of Dalziel High School who are at Crawford Street, MOTHERWELL, ML1 3AG. The changing rooms were believed to have been built at the same time as the track and a covered stand was built in 2001. Adjacent to the track are grass and astroturf sports pitches. The facility was developed with Lottery funding and was officially opened by HRH The Princess Royal in April 2001. Motherwell FC train here. The track effectively replaced a red blaes cinder one which was immediately south of the new one.
