Linford Christie Stadium
The track was originally cinder and called West London Stadium and opened in 1967. It was upgraded to synthetic in 1973. It was renamed in 1993 after the host club's most famous member in recognition of his World Championship and Olympic 100m victories. There is also a covered straight next to the track. 60 square metres of the track were resurfaced with Spurtan BS in April 1998. The track closed on 30th May 2004 for a major revamp and the official reopening will be on 4th Sep 2005. The surrounds of the track have also received a major boost with a ?600K investment by Barclays and the Football Foundation to upgrade the old redgra area outside the top bend into 5 a side pitches.
