Barnet Copthall Stadium
The track was built in 1964 and hosted the English Schools Championships that year. It was first open for training on 26th July when 100 Shaftesbury Harriers athletes trained on it. It was originally just called Copthall Stadium and was first a black cinder track and then a redgra one. Work started on upgrading the track to synthetic began in Autumn 1976 and was finished in time to stage the 1977 English Schools. The track was refurbished in late 1989 with a Rekortan surface - the same surface as used in the Munich and Los Angeles Olympic stadiums. In 2004 a CARP award for refurbishment of the track was received. The work is due to be completed by the end of the 2005. Shaftesbury Barnet is also working (as of late 2004) to take over the running of the facility.
