Sutton Arena
The track was originally 440y cinder and the opening meeting was on 6th June 1953. It was orientated at 180 degrees to the current track and called Carshalton Sports Arena. It was 27 feet wide and so had 6 standard lanes and one narrow 3ft inside lane which was only used for distance races. The track was used by Mitcham AC from the early 1960s who merged with Sutton & Cheam AC in about 1984 to become Mitcham & Sutton AC. The track was upgraded to a Spurtan BS synthetic one in 1992 and the name changed to Sutton Arena and the club to Sutton & District AC to reflect the borough that the track is in as Sutton council funded the development. The earth removed to level the surface was used to create the large banking alongside the back straight. Prior to 2001, all the runways were coloured green. The track was resurfaced in 2001 and now the HJ area and the jumps runways are coloured light blue. In early 2003, an indoor training facility opened next to the track. The whole facility is managed by GLL.
