Ashdown Leisure Centre Track
Work on building this brand new track started in September 1999 and the first meeting held on it was on 19th July 2000 although long throws were not possible until 2001 as the infield had to be seeded. It was funded with the help of a ?429K Lottery Sports Award and has a Polytan WS surface. The main contractor was Henry Boot Du-Mury Sport. The track is situated in the area which used to have a temporary grass track and beside this there were synthetic LJ/TJ runways, which are still there, and a HJ area. The new LJ/TJ runway, one of the PV runways and the SP sector are in an area immediately behind the water jump. The Leisure Centre is adjacent to Ashdown School and so the track is closed during school hours.
