The track was originally cinder. It was upgraded to a Spurtan BS synthetic track in 1995. Although the track is 6 standard lanes with 8 lanes down the straight, narrow green lanes approximately 3 foot wide have been painted onto the track in addition to the normal white lanes to allow for 400m races involving up to 8 competitors.
