The track was originally cinder and built in the 1960s. It was upgraded to a synthetic 7 lane track in the early 1970s. In 1998, it was resurfaced and upgraded to 8 lanes. It is managed from the adjacent swimming pool. The track is postally in Liversedge but is commonly referred to as being in Cleckheaton.
