Woking Athletics Track
The track was originally cinder and was upgraded to a Chevron synthetic surface in 1986. A Lottery Sports Award was granted in 2000 to resurface the track with Polytan, remodel the field-event facilities, install full floodlights, revamp the changing facilities, put on a cover on the seating and provide ramps and anchors for wheelchair athletes. The work started in August 2000 and the track reopened in June 2001 with a schools multi-events meeting on 23-24 June. The SP circle and DT/HT cage have been moved to the first bend. The LJ/TJ and PV runways are now on the final bend D and the LJ/TJ runway alongside the back straight has been grassed over. Click here to see the layout of the old track. The track is managed by Woking AC who own the lease and is sometimes referred to as the Sheerwater Athletics Track as it is in the Sheerwater part of Woking.
