The original track here opened in 1985. It was also an 8 lane synthetic one with a 10 lane straight and had a Resisport surface. The track was demolished in 1997 and the current one built 200m away following a ?6.2M lottery award. The track surface is Polymeric. There is an indoor straight adjacent to the track. The stand and the indoor straight were designed and built by Birse. The track has good disabled access with a lift to the grandstand, several disabled toilets and allocated parking spaces.
