Scholes Park Track
The track is behind Gatley Primary School in Scholes Park and is in reasonable condition. It was part of a sport stadium and playing fields built in the early 1960s with money from the William Scholes Foundation who was a wealthy Gatley resident who died in 1927. The track opened on May 19th 1962 and was the original home of Cheadle and Gatley AC who merged with Stretford AC in 1966. The playing fields were originally called William Scholes Playing Fields but the name now seems to be just Scholes Park. Manchester AC held open meetings here in the 1960s. The main LJ/TJ inside the back straight, the HJ area and JT are all black synthetic. The combined PV and TJ runway inside the first bend has a hard asphalt surface.
