Oak Grove Stadium
This track is inside the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst which is where prospective Army officers are trained. In 2000 it was redgra 6 lanes all round and 7 lanes straight and was is in excellent condition and in a very pleasant setting as it is largely surrounded by trees. It has subsequently been upgraded to synthetic with an extra lane added on the home straight but the infield, as in 2000, is an all-weather hockey pitch. The throwing circles are thus external to the track but the landing sectors are slightly downhill and there is no permanent JT runway. The track has been in existence since at least the 1950s and clearly staged full meetings before the all-weather pitch was built. The track is in Berkshire but the official address of the Academy is just over the border in Surrey. The Royal Military College at Sandhurst (as it was called then) first staged an athletics sports in 1849 and this is considered to be the first such organised meeting in the UK.
